Temp mail checklist before you sign up
Thirty seconds of thinking saves an hour of retries.
Before using temp mail for a signup, confirm the inbox will stay alive long enough for verification, plan for password recovery, and avoid disposable addresses for banking or long-term accounts.
Will you need this inbox tomorrow?
If the service might send password resets, receipts, or legal notices later, a self-destructing inbox is the wrong tool. Use a permanent address or an alias you can keep active. Temp mail shines for one-off verifications and trials you might abandon.
How long until the code arrives?
Some OTPs are instant; others crawl through fraud checks. Open your disposable inbox in a dedicated tab, trigger the email once, and avoid letting the session expire mid-flow. If delays are normal for you, consider Pro-style longer retention where available.
Do you have an exit plan?
If you might keep the product, add a phone number or switch to a stable email in account settings before the throwaway dies. Nothing is more frustrating than a locked account tied to a deleted mailbox.
